A Good Little Girls Zine

When the Time is Right

Once, early on
an idealistic
Girl

In a time when
She did what she believed
Not what was expected

In time when
she didn’t have
a better understanding of it all
Oblivious
One track minded

She declared Fridays
as Independent Reading days
Her class was a serene space of lil readers

It was lovely, peaceful
The only objective: to enjoy reading
Oh did they ever

Years past
Tests took over the world
She somehow lost track of the true objective of her job

No more Fridays
No more serenity
It became more about pushing
Pushing from skill to skill

What about that love?
What about that space?

When will it be again?
When will it be real again?
