A Good Little Girls Zine

the 2018.12

It was almost Halloween
and the whole school was glowing,
lit with the bright orange light.
you blasted through my door like dynamite through a mountain
“Ms. C. Ms. C. Did you hear? Ms. __ is having a girl!”
I smiled and nodded
poker face, I told myself
Poker. Face.
Then, as if you dwelled inside my head:
“Ms. C are you going to have children?
“No,” I said, dropping my eyes to my keyboard,
hoping you wouldn’t see – my open wound – still raw, still wide ass open.
“What? Why?”
I changed the subject, another moot attempt to steer you away from my still oozing lesion
Then like a puppy who licks her mother’s wounds,
“It doesn’t matter if you have children, you are Mama Cheez-it!”
and
“Yeah we’re your kids.”
and
“Wait how’d you birth twelve kids at once? You’re body sure bounced back!”
and
“You were busy in 2005!”

Our walls, they romped with the blast of our laughter
it was a little joke, I knew
but what You didn’t know, my little Cheez-its
is
that day
my heart grew, made room for all of you.
