A Good Little Girls Zine

Mountain Pose

From a distance I stand in mountain pose, channel the ground beneath me to center the particles that long to join the majority of tribes of mothers who have stories and challenges and insecurities and overwhelming love and school pictures and a million firsts and are sleep deprived.

From a distance I see a mother unpacking her son for college, moving him into his dorm, lamp in one hand, comforter in another

and I stand

in mountain pose, harnessing the courage to feel the yearnings for that experience, knowing it won’t be mine, yet connected to the mother and son for sharing the road with me.

I am outside and inside, with and without

Simultaneously breathing in this image and out these cravings.
