A Good Little Girls Zine

Awake and Alive

In the darkness,

I awaken

to visions of you

alive, thriving among all the people, your friends especially

Those I’ve only just now met in your passing.

In the black night, I am restless with memories of those first years of immigrant life, that apartment I barely visited, the car I barely knew,

What I did feels useless tonight, went after my dreams, left you behind, knowing fully the intensity of mindset and emotions and conflict of becoming an immigrant.

The loneliness, I knew it so well and left anyway and tonight in the blackness of the night of your burial, I am left overwhelmed, suffocating in regret.
