A Good Little Girls Zine

Twenty years ago

June 3rd,

I walked off

drove off towards the hills of my new dorm, my best friend, my dreams

I had had an insane, rebellion filled year before

The red handcuffs of a “girl’s place” in the rearview mirror, I drove towards freedom, demanding my rights, my equality to the men in my life.

In the valley and on that hill of the university campus,

on hilltop circle,

I saw before me, the truth of a still home life,

one without daily rollercoaster rides

Here, at eighteen, I painted my first lines toward the me without them.

Oh the glory!
