Things I Did to Defy Loneliness: 

        – looked up and wished on a star
        – wrote a poem and pretended someone would read it
        – lit one cigarette after another
        – pressed noise deep into my ear
        – let a stranger rub up against me
        – sat in an alleyway, waiting
        – loved my reflection in passing cars
        – imagined myself descending stone steps
        – put on someone else’s clothes as if they were my own

Called out and became an echo.
